There’s something festive and cheery about this knit hat. Candlestick-like motifs appear as the ribbed brim blends into the lace stitch pattern.

The unique lace stitch continues uninterrupted around the hat and gathers nicely with decreases to an 8-point motif at the top (image on p. 4).

The hat is knit seamlessly in the round from the bottom up. You can knit the unfolded brim version, shown here. Also included are the instructions for a warmer version with a folded-over ribbed brim (see next page). Both hats knit up nicely using worsted-weight yarn, have a slightly slouchy fit, and only require one hank or two balls of yarn.

The lace portion, including crown shaping, is charted and written out, so you can follow your preference.

Matching #314 Alina Fingerless Gloves available to knit too (sold separately)!

GAUGE: 21 sts = 5” / 12.5 cm and 24 rnds = 4” / 10 cm in Lace, blocked and unstretched.

Honey-colored version in Knit Picks Swish Worsted. Winter White version in Berroco Ultra Alpaca. A nice, wool blend worsted-weight with great stitch definition can be substituted. See suggestions listed above.

Unfolded brim version can be folded back if you prefer to wear the hat more like a beanie (with no slouch).
