A-BEE-Gurumi
This beginner-friendly pattern is part of the Small Potato Knitwear Little Buddies amigurumi collection. It provides instructions on how to make a striped bee--including a photo tutorial on changing yarn at the end of a row in the round and carrying yarn up the inside of the item between stripes. It also includes a photo tutorial on crocheting the wings directly onto the bee body, rather than making them separately and sewing them on.
This pattern can be made with any size yarn and the appropriate hook. I have made it with worsted weight yarn and an H or I hook, super bulky yarn and an L hook, and sport weight yarn and a C or D hook.
You’ll need three colors of yarn, some type of stuffing (I recommend PolyFil or something similar, or some yarn or fabric scraps), a crochet hook, and a yarn or finishing needle. As the bees are fairly small, they don’t take a lot of yarn, and are a great stashbuster project! Plus, they look great in colors besides black and yellow--I’ve made them pink and black as well as rainbows, or you could really use just a single color for the body. Whatever you decide to do, please share your finished projects with me here or on Instagram--I love to see them!
