This cowl is part of my “A Bit Biased” collection designed to bring you freedom of color expression with angular contrast. With just 1 100g hank each of 2 colors, an advent calendar, or your favorite scraps, you can make this cowl and the coordinating fingerless gloves as a set. I hope you enjoy making it.

Sizes: Small (Large)
The small version is a 24” (61cm) circumference cowl great for tucking into a coat or dressing up any outfit.

The large version is 48” (122cm) can be worn loosely or wrapped twice around the neck for extra warmth.

Gauge
20 stitches and 32 rows per 4” in pattern
• For swatch, cast on 30 stitches and knit a repeating pattern of 4 rows stockinette (knit on right side, purl on wrong side) and then 4 rows reverse stockinette (purl on right side, knit on wrong side)
• Once you’ve knit 36 rows, measure for gauge

Yarn & Needles

US Size 8 (5.00mm) Needles or size needed to achieve gauge

200g DK weight yarn:
• Two Colors: 50g (100g) each of two contrasting colors (noted as Color A & Color B)
• Advent: 100g of a main color (noted as MC) and 24 coordinating mini skeins or 5-10g each of 24 coordinating colors (noted as Mini 1-24)
• One Color: 100g (200g) of one color
• Scrappy: 100g (200g) total of any colors you like, with enough of each to knit at least 4 rows (swatch to determine amounts if needed)

Notes
The pattern repeats rows of stockinette alternating with reverse stockinette.
• On rows with color changes, all main stitches in the row are knit, even if they would otherwise be purled for reverse stockinette, moving the purl bars to the back of the work.

Each right side row will increase at the beginning, and each wrong side row will decrease at the beginning, creating a parallelogram shape.

At the end, the final row will be joined with the provisional cast on to create the circular cowl shape.

An Icord edge is worked as you go on each row by slipping the last 4 stitches and knitting them when you start the next row.

f you start with 200g of yarn, you should have enough left to also knit the A Bit Biased Fingerless Gloves!
