A Bit Biased Fingerless Gloves (Advent-able!)
These gloves are part of my “A Bit Biased” collection designed to bring you freedom of color expression with angular contrast. With just 1 100g hank each of 2 colors, an advent calendar, or your favorite scraps, you can make these gloves and the coordinating cowl as a set. I hope you enjoy making them.
Sizes: Medium (Large, X-Large)
The chart and pattern are provided in 3 sizes, denoted in stitch counts as M (L, XL) to measure approximately 7 ½” (8 3/8“, 9 ¼”) or 19 cm (21.25cm, 23.50cm) with ½” to 1” (1.25cm to 2.50cm) of negative ease.
Choose a size that is slightly smaller than the widest measurement around the hand.
Gauge
20 stitches and 32 rows per 4” in stockinette stitch
Yarn & Needles
100g DK weight yarn:
• Two Colors: 50g each of two contrasting colors, noted as Main Color (MC) & Contrasting Color (CC)
• Advent: in addition to MC as above, 24 coordinating mini skeins or 5-10g each of 24 coordinating colors (noted as Mini 1-24)
US Size 8 (5.00mm) Needles or size needed to achieve gauge
Notes
Each glove is worked flat with intarsia colorwork. You will need to prepare 2 bobbins of the main color, and 1 bobbin of the contrasting color (or work sections from each Mini).
After binding off with an Icord, the glove is seamed using the mattress stitch, leaving an opening for the thumb.
The Stockinette stitch will curl as you knit, and this is NORMAL. Seaming to finish and blocking will correct this. Blocking is recommended to normalize any tension differences you may have as you twist yarns to switch colors.
If you start with 200g of yarn, you should have enough left to also knit the A Bit Biased Fingerless Gloves!
