The inspiration for A Prevalence of Purls Scarf design was from Lovely Stitches Vol 2, an e-book by stitch designer Annie Maloney. The lacy diamond pattern includes a background of seed stitch rib with 3-st cables on the diamond points, all combining to create a richly textured fabric.

In the scarf bottom borders, a simple texture pattern of seed stitch ribbing on a purl background flows down from the more complex lace and cables above. Side borders of seed stitch cables merge into the main scarf pattern.
