“Winter reminds us that life is not always about constant motion, but about the cycles of rest and renewal.”

Winter is a season of quiet beauty when “The world is covered with a blanket of white, as soft as a whisper and as quiet as night.” (Unknown) Pick up your knitting needles and join me … “Let’s go where the snow falls gently.” (Narnia)

Although A Winter’s Day Shawl is one size, you can make it larger by using fingering yarn and larger needles instead of lace. If you want to lengthen it, or use up more of your yarn, you may also repeat a couple of the final rows before doing the row that moves you into the bind off.

This shawl is beautiful beaded or left plain. You may choose to do all 948 beaded stitches in the patterm, or choose where you want beads. I would recommend using size 6 or 8 beads depending on your yarn weight.

Materials needed:
Knitting needles: size 3.25mm/US 3 knitting needles, or needle size to get the knitted fabric you desire.
Yarn: My testers had a wide range on yardage used. I think if you plan from 600 m/650yds (with additional yarn available) to 700m/765yds, you will be okay.
(Lace weight yarn weight used was 800m to 100g.)*
Beads: (if doing) 948 size 6 or 8
Notions: Crochet hook for adding beads, darning needle for sewing in loose ends, stitch markers helpful for marking repeats.

Blocked Gauge: 20 stitches X 30 rows stockinette stitch = 10cm X 10cm/4” X 4”

Finished size:
Across - 100 cm/39 1/3 inches
Depth/Spine - 45 cm/18 inches
Upper Edge/Wingspan - 144 cm/56.5 inches
