Abstract Throw
Go avant-garde with this bright blanket by Pauline Morgan, which uses different stitch heights to create soft, painterly shapes
Hello and welcome to the Abstract Throw Crochet Pattern listing. Create your own bold and colourful crochet throw inspired by Kandinsky’s abstract art! This instant digital download crochet pattern will guide you through making a striking, retro-style throw made from uniquely stitched granny squares—no two throws will ever be exactly alike.
Originally published in Simply Crochet Magazine (Issue 145, January 2024), this throw is a true celebration of colour, texture, and creativity. The design uses different stitch heights within each square to form a playful abstract effect reminiscent of modernist art. It’s an eye-catching addition to your home décor—perfect for cosy winter evenings, bright spring mornings, or stylish summer picnics. The most special part is every throw made with this pattern will be completely unique to the maker. What a fabulous family heirloom it can be. I have loved designing and creating this beautiful pattern and really hope you will love the pattern as much I do.
