I originally was inspired by the character Eowyn in The Lord of the Rings, imagining some outerwear that would fit in Rohan. I wanted something earthy yet intricate, and was so excited to release that pattern under this name. That is until someone said “OMG it looks like a little acorn” and then, I could not get that name out of my mind. So friends, here is the Acorn Bonnet. I hope you love it and are as cozy in yours as I am in mine.
The length of the bonnet is knit flat, with a traditional 8-stitch cable and diamond pattern, while the edge is complete with an i-cord edging. It is then folded and seamed at the back, and stitches are picked up before finishing the bottom of the bonnet with 1x1 ribbing. Finally, two i-cords are created so you can comfortably tie the bonnet below your chin.
