The Ada Socks are my very first sock design, and were inspired by my paternal grandmother, Ada, who taught me to knit when I was young.

The Ada Socks combine my love of stripes and texture in a sock, and the colour I have used for the sample reflects my memories of lovely autumnal walks with my Nana. I distinctly remember walking with her, hand in hand on the long, leafy path to her village, kicking the fallen leaves as we walked, and thinking how pretty the leaves were with their gorgeous colours of autumnal splendour.

The pattern is suitable for beginner knitters through to more experienced knitters, and I would recommend using tonal and speckled yarns to define the texture and the striped sections. As you can see from the photographs, the main colour and contrast coloured yarns can be swapped around to suit your preference.

For my sample, I used two 50g skeins in the colourway Autumn Walks, which was dyed especially for the pattern by Tracy @norahgeorgeyarns, and I knitted size medium. The Ada Socks also look lovely in other yarns, and are great to use up any leftover yarns from previous projects.

I absolutely loved designing and creating the Ada Socks, and I hope you love knitting them xx
