This top-down romper pairs cables with half fisherman’s rib for a stretchy, comfortable fit. It features adjustable cross-back straps that travel from the back to the front bib, offering two height options to grow with the baby.

The garment is worked in one piece to eliminate unnecessary seams and includes a snap or button closure at the crotch for easy changes. This pattern covers sizes from 0–1 month to 18–24 months, making it a practical and simple project for every stage.

A matching bonnet in Half fisherman’s rib is also included.

Materials Needed
5.00 mm circular needles with 60 or 80 cm circular needle or needle needed to obtain gauge.

Cable needle (optional, but recommended)

4 small buttons of approximately 20mm + 3 extra if you do not want snaps on crotch.

3 snap fasteners for the crotch closure.

Yarn needs:

Romper: About 160, (180), 235, (390), 360, (450) m 175, (197), 257, (317), 394, (492) yds or 90, (100), 130, (160), 200, (250) g​ of Worsted weight yarn (10ply) (180m/100g).

Bonnet: About 90, (90), 90, (120), 120, (120) m 95, (95), 95, (150), 150, (150) yds or 50, (50), 50, (80), 80, (80) g​ of Worsted weight yarn (10ply) (180m/100g).

For the green sample I used Lang Yarns Carpe Diem, in color 714/92.

The red sample is knitted using KFO merino held double + one strand of mohair.
