Advent Calendar Stole 2025

Pattern:
Over the past nine years I have designed unique Advent Calendar Stoles. It was really wonderful to learn that a lot of knitters all over the world enjoyed the annual event. As a result, I am very proud to announce my tenth design: Advent Calendar Stole 2025. This year I will offer my Advent Calendar Stole pattern as a KAL to the A Place to KAL my Own group.

The Advent Calendar Stole 2025 is a rectangular shaped stole. The stole is composed of 11 patterns and each pattern has a different pattern/motif. There are two different formats for the patterns. This year both the RS and the WS rows are charted and have written instructions. Between each pattern there are a few resting rows with the name “Interlude”. The Interlude rows are used to either increase or decrease the number of stitches to fit the next pattern. The stole uses approximately 800 - 880 meters / 875 - 962 yards of (light) fingering yarn, depending on the needle size used and your personal knitting style. I recommend using either a solid or a semi-solid colour for the stole. The finished size is approximately 177cm x 39cm | 69.7” x 15.4” (depending on yarn choice and your personal knitting style). The stole can also be knit in lace weight yarn, but the finished size will be smaller.

Skill level:
Advanced beginner. Pattern includes charts and full written instructions. There will also be suggestions for bead placement.

Gauge:
Gauge is not important but will determine the final size of the stole and the amount of yarn needed.

Finished size:
Approximately 177cm x 39cm | 69.7” x 15.4” (depending on yarn choice and your personal knitting style).

Suggested yarn:
I use two skeins of Wolhobby – Merino High Twist of 425m/465yds - 100 gram (75% Wool -Merino, 25% Nylon/Polyamide) for my sample of the Advent Calendar Stole 2025. Details about the special Yarn Offer can be found in the Interview with Linda of Wolhobby, see YouTube video: Advent Calendar Stole van Brigit – knit3hearts. It is highly recommended that you DO NOT use a thin one-ply yarn or mohair yarn. The patterns will not show up clearly if you use this type of yarn. I DO recommend that you use either a solid or semi-solid colour for your stole, this will also help the different patterns to show up clearly.

Tools:
For (light) fingering weight yarns: circular needles in size US3/3.25mm and US2½/3.00mm of 60 - 80cm/26 – 34 inch for the patterns and US2½/3.00mm for the “Interlude” sections, depending on your tension (please pay careful attention for the recommended needle size in each part of the pattern), stitch markers (optional) and a tapestry needle. Adding beads to the Interlude rows require 160 beads and 2 x 26 beads for the picot cast on and picot bind off; 212 beads in total. Beads are optional.
