Pattern:
Over the past several years I have designed six unique Advent Calendar Stoles. This year it is time to look back at all the beautiful patterns I have designed. I have chosen two of my most favourite patterns from each of the previous stoles; twelve patterns in total. All patterns have been re-charted, revised, edited and the complete pattern has been fully test knitted. This has resulted in a Best of Advent Calendar Stoles in 2022, which has become a new unique design.

The Best of Advent Calendar Stoles in 2022 is a rectangular shaped stole. The stole is composed of 12 clues and each clue has a different pattern/motif. There are two different formats for the clues. There are clues with instructions for both RS and WS rows and there are clues with instruction for the RS rows only. All clues will provide instructions to explain how the stitches have to be worked on the WS rows. Between each pattern there are a few resting rows with the name “Interlude”. The Interlude rows are used to either increase or decrease the number of stitches to fit the next pattern. The stole uses approximately 800 - 880 meters / 875 - 962 yards of fingering yarn, depending on the needle size used and your personal knitting style. I recommend using either a solid or a semi-solid colour for the stole. The stole can also be knit in lace weight yarn, but the finished size will be smaller.

Skill level:
Advanced beginner. Pattern includes charts and full written instructions. There will also be suggestions for bead placement.

Gauge:
Gauge isn’t important but will determine the final size of the stole and the amount of yarn needed.

Finished size:
Approximately 177cm x 39cm | 69.7” x 15.4” (depending on yarn choice and your personal knitting style).

Suggested yarn:
Two skeins of Invictus Yarns - Seraphic of 400m/437yds - 100 gram (70% Superwash Merino, 20% Silk, 10% Cashmere). Special colourways have been dyed for the MKAL Best of Advent Calendar Stoles in 2022. More details can be found here: Yarn Offer: MKAL Best of Advent Calendar Stoles 2022 by Invictus Yarns. It is highly recommended that you DO NOT use a thin one-ply yarn or mohair yarn. The patterns will not show up clearly if you use this type of yarn. I DO recommend that you use either a solid or semi-solid colour for your stole, this will also help the patterns to show up clearly.

Tools:
For fingering weight yarns: circular needles in size US3/3.25mm and US2½/3.00mm of 60 - 80cm/26 – 34 inch for the patterns and US2½/3.00mm for the “Interlude sections”, depending on your tension (please pay careful attention for the recommended needle size in each pattern), stitch markers (optional) and a tapestry needle. Adding beads to the Interlude rows require 176 beads and 2 x 26 beads for the picot cast on and picot bind off; 228 beads in total. Beads are optional.

Please see the Never Enough Lace Group for two separate topics for the MKAL, with one that will be “spoiler free” for those who like to keep the mystery alive!

Each clue/pattern will be published separately.
