The Aegishjalmur, or “Helm of Terror,” is an Icelandic symbol found in Norse mythology, intended to inspire awe and fear. In the Fafnismal, the dragon Fafnir claims it as the source of his invincibility as he watches over his treasure. Later, in a volume of Icelandic folktales collected by Jon Arnason in the nineteenth century, the symbol is included in a magic spell, as follows-

“Make a helm of awe in lead, press the lead sign between the eyebrows, and speak the formula:

“Ægishjálm er ég ber milli brúna mér!

“I bear the helm of awe between my brows!
Thus a man could meet his enemies and be sure of victory.”

There are some variations on this symbol, so I wanted to provide a variation in application, as well. A cozier one, for victory against the cold!
