After the events of last August, I felt the need to support the people of Afghanistan, in their time of need. I felt that the best way to do that for me, was through my variation of art; which is knitting.
This pattern represents the women of Afghanistan. Celebrates Afghan culture and traditional clothing and reveres the Afghan flag.

GAUGE for knitting the doll
24 stitches – 35 rows per 10cm/4inch using stockinette stitch worked on 2.75mm needles
GAUGE for knitting the doll clothes
22 stitches – 35 rows per 10cm/4 inch using garter stitch worked on 4mm needles
MATERIALS
• 2 balls of flesh colour yarn
• 1 ball of hair/eyebrow colour yarn
• A length of white yarn
• A length of colour for the iris
• A length of black yarn for the eyeliner
• 1 ball of yarn for the dress in main colour
• 1 ball of yarn for the dress/trousers/shawl in contrasting colour
• 1 ball of yarn for the trousers
• 1 ball of yarn for the shawl
• 2.75mm cable needles
• 4mm cable needles
• 5mm cable needles
• Tapestry needle
• Long doll needle with large eye
• 5-6mm wide elastic
• Pet brush
• Hair straighteners
• Alcohol marker to colour in the lips
• Blush or eyeshadow the colour of choice for adding blush to the cheeks
• Small makeup brush for blush
