African penguin is the sixth and final pattern in the Summer of Sea Creatures 2020. This year we are highlighting endangered species. Please join us in knitting and raising awareness about these animals. Tag me @yarnigans or #summerofseacreatures on instagram. Thanks for joining me again for this fifth year of summer of sea creatures!*

This is probably the most difficult Summer of Sea Creatures pattern due to its different construction. The head is knitted in two parts, and sewn together, then the body is knitted in two parts and sewn together, then a flat base is sewn onto the bottom and the wings are sewn on. Yes the seaming is tedious, but the effort is well worth it. You will need to be able to knit in the round on double pointed needles, as well as do increases and decreases. You will use one entire ball of black yarn and less than half of the white.
