Albanian Anklets
In the Balkans, knitters make socks in the Middle-Eastern toe-up method that is also used in many parts of Southern Europe. Unique to Albanian socks, however, is the gathered heel that takes its shape from a section of rapid decreasing completed just before knitting the ankle and leg. These slippers are made in heavier yarn, allowing you to sample the techniques without investing so much time.
