With warmer days just around the corner, I found myself reaching for a gorgeous duck egg blue cotton yarn I had tucked away from last year. The soft, dreamy shade instantly reminded me of Alice in Wonderland’s iconic dress—and just like that, the idea for the Alice Dress was born!

I don’t typically gravitate toward double crochet stitches, but when I came across this stitch pattern in one of my favourite crochet books, the dress practically flew off my hook. The Alice Dress is worked from the top down in a classic raglan style using simple stitches: double crochet, half double crochet, and single crochet. It’s crafted in one piece, finished with a delicate lace edging along the hem and sleeves. For those extra-sweet touches, there’s a sash for tying a sweet bow and a charming Peter Pan–style collar.

With its timeless yet modern silhouette, the Alice Dress is just the thing for daydreaming in the sunshine, sipping tea at a garden party, or even a friendly game of croquet at the Queen’s palace—perhaps with the Mad Hatter himself dropping by for a spot of tea.
