The All are One hat is knit with 6 different colors in a seemingly random way that ends up working well together. I used O-Wool O-Wash Sport minis to get the most bang for my buck, but you could also use scraps or a color repeat or striped yarn.

The blue sample used the O-Wool colors:
Cuckoo Flower (50 yards) CC1
Chesheim Creek (52 yards) CC2
Cattail (43 yards) CC3
Night Heron (31 yards) CC4
Springhouse (25 yards) CC5
Sunfish (25 yards) CC6

Construction: a garter stitch band is worked flat with one I-cord edge and one slipped st garter edge. Stitches are then picked up along the slipped garter edge for knitting in the round leaving a split-back band. The body of the hat is worked long enough to be a slouchy hat when worn with the brim down, and more like a beanie with the brim up. This gives it multiple ways it can be worn depending on your mood.
