This is a pattern for a very “long wingspan” crescent shaped shawl that is comprised of two different lace stitches. The focal stitch of the shawl is a fun eyelet stitch to work, and has a wonderful reverse side to it. The ornate lace edging stitch is added in the traditional Shetland manner, and gives a beautiful and graceful bottom to the shawl. Nor is it nearly as difficult as it looks.

The shawl measures 70 inches at the widest points across the top and is 26 inches deep at the deepest point. It is made with one of the heavier of the fingering weight yarns, and is knit on size 7 (U.S.) needles. The shawl requires approximately 950 yards of yarn making it both a fun and engaging lace shawl project, as well as the perfect gift.

The stitches are both charted and written out line by line.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting).

The shawl was expertly test knitted by Barbara Robertson, who can be contacted at: Barb. Robertson@ gmail.com, and who is known on Ravelry as NanaKnits4US. The yarn used in the sample is Handmaiden’s Casbah yarn, in colorway, Pumpkin. The shawl requires 3 skeins of that yarn to complete.

The pattern is for sale here on Ravelry, and in my Etsy shop in the Crescent Shawl Section (https://www.etsy.com/shop/WearableArtEmporium?section_id=...)
