Althaea is a modern Granny Square worked in overlay / mosaic crochet technique and comes in two variations: Regular Version, and a Solid Version.

In regular version, we use Blo SC for background and get an option to create honeycomb style hexagons in the pattern whereas solid version uses dropped DC for background.

Square can be upsized as per your liking once you understand how pattern repeats! You can also join multiple similar squares to make big projects such as blanket / throw / cushion blocks.

Pattern contains PDF instruction for both the versions, a photo tutorial for moving slip stitch method used in joining the rounds and guidelines for joining multiple squares using 2 color technique.

As with many of my other patterns, the pattern instructions for Althaea Granny Square too comes with lot of helpful photos for each round.
