After designing AMADEUS Shawl I wanted to carry the design features into a blanket for my living room. I chose a palette to match my room but it is simple enough to change the colours to suit yours or to make it as a gift.

Mosaic knitting is actually quite fun to do by simply slipping stitches of one colour and knitting or purling with the other. You only work with one colour per row.

I am not a very experienced knitter and I found the Amadeus blanket a joy to knit! Very plain and easy instructions, no frustration. Highly recommend. Looks like a masterpiece when you’re finished. Stacy McIvor.

Pattern instructions are written out in full, row by row.
There are also charts to follow if you are a chart knitter. But if you aren’t you can just skip over them and ignore them completely.

Measurements: After a damp spray blocking of Mosaic areas: 132 cm/52” wide by 183 cm/72” long.

Gauge: 10 ½ stitches x 15 rows = 10 cm/4” square in Stocking stitch on 9 mm/US 13 needles.

Yarns, needles and supplies:
Bernat Softee Chunky. 100% Acrylic. 100g/3.5 oz., 99 m/108 yds. Super Bulky (5-6 wpi).
Colour (A): 10 balls Denim Blue # 28810 (15 grams leftover).
Colour (B): 3 balls Brass # 28807 (90 grams leftover).
Colour (C): 4 balls Natural #28008 (60 grams leftover).

The amounts of yarn used are based on my sample for the design but will depend on the yarn you choose, variations in yarn thickness of each colour, your personal gauge/tension and any changes made. You may want to purchase an extra ball of colour (A) so as not to run short.

9 mm/US 13 circular needles 120 cm/47”. Or size needed to obtain gauge.
10 mm/US 15 circular needles 120 cm/47” for Mosaic sections.
12 stitch markers, tapestry needle.
