Amalie Sweater is a garter stitch sweater that, despite its simple construction, has a neat, slightly oversized fit, with snug neck and dropped shoulders. The idea behind the design is a dressy sweater that can be knitted by anyone, from the beginner to the experienced knitter.

Amalie Sweater is started by knitting the back piece, then stitches are picked up along cast-on edge for the shoulders. The front piece is joined and knitted flat. The front and back pieces are gathered at the bottom and worked in the round in rib. Side seams are then sewn, leaving space to pick up stitches for the sleeves, which are work flat until the cuff, when they are worked in the round in rib. The sleeves are seamed together with invisible stitches. Finally, stitches are picked up at the neckline and worked in the round in rib.
