“Amari” was knit top-down. The shaping of the yoke was done by four increasing rounds on the upper third of the yoke. After, the difference in the gauges of the stockinette stitch & the 4-color stranded colorwork section were accounted for by three additional increasing rounds in the 2-color section. To minimize puckering, it is recommended to decrease two needle sizes when working the 2-color section, one needle size for the 3-color section & back to the original needle size for the 4-color. The sample sweater was worked all in US 6 (4 mm) needle size.

Sleeves were separated at row 30 of the color chart. At the bottom 2-color section, three rounds of decreasing were done while adding German short rows (optional) to raise the back. Because the colorwork is a repetition of 20 sts, the yoke ended up with about 2” positive ease and I chose about 2” of negative ease for the body for a fitted look. I recommend no ease to 2” positive ease for the yoke because of the thickness of the 4-color section.

This written pattern assumes that you know the basics of stranded colorwork knitting. It is a condensed pattern for you to modify according to your measurements & design preferences, using your gauge.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate/Advanced.

Sample size XS shown stretches to fit 32” chests, 26” waists, & 36” hips.

The finished project in size XS weighed about 300 g (with loose yarns clipped & not including gauge swatches) & needed about 1 ball of each yarn listed below. Please estimate how much yarn is needed for your size accordingly. When in doubt, always get an extra ball.
