The Amber Sunset Hat is a free crochet pattern on my blog!

A knit-look crochet beanie worked from the bottom up in the round, using self-striping yarn for automatic, ombré-style striping. The fabric alternates between a ribbed hdc section (worked in the third loop) and a textured center-single-crochet section, creating a hand-knit look while remaining entirely crochet.

Construction: Worked in the round without joining or turning, from the brim to the crown, with a standard hdc2tog decrease crown.

Sizing: Written for Teen/Adult Small with Medium and Large in parentheses.
Teen/Adult Small: approx. 20” circumference x 9” height
Adult Medium: approx. 21” circumference x 9” height
Adult Large: approx. 22” circumference x 9” height

Gauge: 17 sts in pattern x 15 rounds = 4” x 4”

Yarn: Caron Blossom Cakes, Weight 4 Medium (61% cotton / 39% acrylic), 3.5 oz / 215 yds — 1 cake required (sample shown in Tropical Blooms)

Hook: US H / 5.0 mm

Special stitches used: csc (center single crochet), hdc2tog — both explained in the pattern
