What little boy has not gone running down the hallway with a blanket for a cape, ready to save the world. Now he can wear his beloved blanket to rescue the world (my son says a superhero cape really is a superhero blanket) and to cuddle with when watching his favorite hero save the day. This particular pattern also works very well as a wheelchair blanket as the straps can easily cross behind the back without extra bulk and will not slip off.

This pattern uses not only my favorite shape and techniques but is a huge hit with my young sons and nephews! Inspired by Captain America this is a marvelous addition to any super hero lover and an ideal size for little hands. The star is raised with textured stitching and the blanket is one piece, the star is totally incorporated into the blanket and is not simply sewn on the circle (actually it’s a decagon.) For more pictures of the blanket, please look at my American Hero Blanket Pattern. The last picture is of the reverse side of a finished cape blanket. (see etsy site)

The finished product is 36 inches across the shield with the straps extending about 15 inches beyond the shield. The difficulty level is that of an experienced beginner. The pattern is thirteen pages long with detailed instructions and over 20 pictures. I do use abbreviations but the instructions are in more of a conversation style for increased ease, so as long as this is not your first rodeo, you can do this! You will need two skeins each of red and white and one skein of blue. You can also contact me with any questions.

You may sell the finished product from this pattern for profit in a small business (including online) or craft show setting, I just request you mention my etsy store as the source. You may not sell this pattern or use any of the photos for marketing or selling purposes. Please do not share your copy with others, please purchase additional copies.
