You have that amazing skein of yarn. You have that intoxicating mini. Now show them off in this bias-knit cowl! The mosaic pattern is worked with slipped stitches, so you only have to work with one strand of yarn per row while still experiencing a fabulous interplay of colors. It’s amazing what just one mini can do.

If you love this, you might also love the Plus 1 Pop Collection - a set of 7 other patterns that also use 1 mini skein and 1 regular skein.

Skills Required:

  • knit and purl
  • slipping stitches
  • kfb
  • k2tog
  • grafting
  • provisional cast on

Main Colour: madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light 100% Merino; 420 yd/384m per 100g skein; Cousteau; 1 skein
Contrast Colour: madelinetosh Unicorn Tails 100% Merino; 52 yd/47m per 12g skein; Glazed Pecan; 1 skein

Approximate Yardage fingering weight yarn (with a 10% buffer):
MC: 420 yds
CC: 33 yds

30 sts/42 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in stockinette stitch
30 sts/60 rows (30 ridges) = 4 inches/10 cm in garter stitch
Note: I hate cowls that puddle limply on my shoulders, so I chose a gauge that helps the fabric have enough body to show off the mosaic stitch pattern without being stiff.

(always use a needle size that gives you the gauge listed - every knitter’s gauge is unique)
US #2/2.75mm needles for working flat, and a spare needle in a similar size, for grafting

Notions: yarn needle, crochet hook, smooth fingering-weight yarn for provisional cast on
