Anna Shawl
2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs Shawl CAL

Two colors worked in two different styles of stitching create a striking contrast in this elegant winter shawl. You’ll use a double crochet as you begin with your primary color; when you change to your secondary color, you’ll begin a lace-work border. Formed with simple chain spaces and picots, the border dresses up this lovely shawl, making this a lovely accessory to nice tops and dresses.

The pattern includes easy-to-follow instructions and pattern notes. It also features close-up photos to guide you as you complete the picot rows. Overall, this pattern comfortably suits a crocheter who has moved beyond beginner patterns but hasn’t yet jumped to intermediate patterns.

The Anna Shawl is the January installment of the 2017 Sunshine Charlotte Designs Crochet ALong, which features a different shawl pattern each month. This year’s CAL projects are meant to be donated to a local children’s hospital - specifically a cancer ward - so they can be handed out to mothers who suffer the pain of watching their child be ill. I design and donate these shawls in memory of my daughter Charlotte, who died of brain cancer in July 2015.
