Updated to include pattern instructions for a sport/dk version in Arroyo and a chunky version in Mecha!

“What are you working on?”
“Oh, you know…”
Not only is this the perfect answer to that question you are bound to get while stitching away, you can flip this cowl any which way to wear it. It is fully reversible, you can wear it with the picot edge or ribbing up or down, you can flip it in half with just the ribbing or lacy portion showing, you pick! No matter how you put it on, you will never be wrong!

Materials:
For original worsted version:

  • 1 skein Malabrigo Rios (shown in color 138 Ivy, 100% superwash merino wool, 210 yds per 100 g).
  • US8 circular needle in 24” length, or appropriate length for magic loop

For sport/dk version:

  • 1 skein Malabrigo Arroyo (shown in color 231 Sea Slug, 100% superwash merino wool, 335 yds per 100 g.)
  • US6 circular needle in 24” length, or appropriate length for magic loop

For chunky version:

  • 1 skein Malabrigo Mecha (shown in color 875 Arapey, 100% superwash merino wool, 130 yds per 100 g.)
  • US10 circular needle in 24” length, or appropriate length for magic loop

For ALL versions:

  • Stitch marker to denote beginning of round
  • Yarn needle and scissors for weaving in ends

Measurements After Blocking:
24-25 inches in circumference (it naturally wants to taper slightly due to the ribbing), and 7.5-8 inches deep for all versions. Worsted version gauge is 4 sts per inch, 16 sts x 28 rows in 4 x 4-inch square in stockinette. Sport/dk version gauge is 5 sts per inch, 20 sts x 34 rows in 4 x 4-inch square in stockinette. Chunky version gauge is 3.5 sts per inch, 14 sts x 23 rows in 4 x4-inch square in stockinette.

Note: Pattern is worked in a multiple of 7. For worsted version I used 71 g for this project, about 5 g just for the picot bind off. Plan on 75 g to be safe if you are trying to use up your stash. Sport/dk will need about 55 g and the chunky version will need about 90 g.
