Anywhere Cardigan
The Anywhere Cardigan is worked flat, seamlessly from top down, using a drop shoulder/set-in sleeve hybrid construction on a circular needle in stockinette stitch. You will start by casting on for the full width of the back neck and working the back yoke with increases for the shoulders. After shaping the shoulder slope, knit straight rows for the armhole depth. Pick up the stitches from the shoulder slope to work the shoulders separately with round neck shaping, once you reach the armhole depth, join the front and back pieces using Right Twist to Join technique for sizes (XS - M) and underarm cast on for sizes (L - 5XL) and knit the body back and forth to the hem and bind off.
The front rib button bands are worked by picking up stitches along the front edges of the cardigan and forming the buttonholes at the same time.
For neckband, pick up stitches along the neck edge, knit in 1 x 1 ribbing for required length, then bind off and finish by folding the neckband in half and sewing it down.
Lastly, pick up stitches for the sleeves around the armhole, knit in the round until the required length while incorporating slight sleeve shaping, and work the cuff before binding off.
Note:This pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knitted. (Please note that some sizes have not been test knitted due to a lack of testers. See below for details on the sizes that were test knitted).
The increases for the neck edge and decreases at the armhole are charted in a table for each size to make the “at the same time” instructions hassle-free.
All technique tutorials are included within the pattern and are also available on my website.
Size guide:
The Anywhere Cardigan is designed to have 17 cm 6.75 inches of traditional positive ease across all sizes, meaning it is designed to be 17 cm 6.75 inches larger in circumference than your bust measurement. The sizes, XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 71-76 (81-86) 91.5-96.5 (101.5-106.5) 115.5-117 (122-127) 132-137 (142-147) 152-158 cm
28-30 (32-34) 36-38 (40-42) 44-46 (48-50) 52-54 (56- 58) 60-62 inches.
Measure yourself before beginning your project to determine which size will fit you the best.
For example, if you measure 86 cm 34 inches around your bust (or around the widest part of your upper body), you should knit a size S. A size S cardigan has a bust circumference of 101 cm 40.25 inches, Which in the given example would give 17 cm 6.75 inches of positive ease.
(The Sample was knitted in S; the model has a bust circumference of 86 cm 34 inches and is 155 cm 5 ‘1 “ tall).
Begin by knitting a swatch before you start your project to determine which size needle and yarn you need to achieve the correct gauge.
Note: Size XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL have not been tested yet, if you are interested in knitting one of these sizes, feel free to contact me, and I will send you the pattern for free in exchange for your feedback on the pattern.
Size (L) is currently being tested.
