The Emberstone Cardigan - DK is worked seamlessly in flat from the top down, featuring raglan increases on a circular needle. The cardigan is knitted in stockinette stitch, with a stunning stitch pattern running down the body after sleeves are separated, and incorporates modified raglan increases to ensure an optimal fit around the sleeves and body. The back yoke is shaped using German Short Rows to raise the back, providing a flattering and well-fitted neckline.
You will begin by casting on for the full width of the neck, working German Short Rows to raise the back and shaping the raglan simultaneously for an optimal neckline fit. Once you reach the desired armhole depth, the sleeves are separated from the body by placing the sleeve stitches on hold, and the body is knitted to the hem, where you will bind off to complete it.
Next, you’ll transfer the sleeve stitches from the stitch holder back onto the needle, pick up and knit stitches at the underarm, and work in the round to the required sleeve length, incorporating slight shaping. Then, you will work the cuffs before binding off.
Finally, stitches are picked up along the entire front edge of the cardigan, starting from the bottom of the right front, going up to the neckline, and continuing down the left front. To create the button band, you’ll cast on at the bottom of the right front edge using the Italian cast-on technique, forming buttonholes as you knit up the right side.

Size guide:
The Emberstone Cardigan - DK is designed to have approxmately 20-25.5 cm 7.75-10 inches of positive ease across all sizes, meaning it is designed to be 20-25.5 cm 7.75-10 inches larger in circumference than your bust measurement.
The sizes, XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 71-76 (81-86) 91.5-96.5 (101.5-106.5) 115.5-117 (122-127) 132-137 (142-147) 152-158 cm
28-30 (32-34) 36-38 (40-42) 44-46 (48-50) 52-54 (56-58) 60-62 inches.
The schematic and finished measurements for the cardigan can be found on page 19 of the pattern.
Measure yourself before beginning your project to determine which size will fit you the best.
For example, if you measure 86 cm 33.75 inches around your bust (or around the widest part of your upper body) you should knit a size S. A size S cardigan has a bust circumference of 104.5 cm 41.75 inches which in the given example would give you 18.5 cm 8 inches of positive ease.

(Sample was knitted in size S, the model has a bust circumference of 90 cm 35.5 inches and is 155 cm 5’1” tall).

Note: Size XS XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL have not been tested yet, if you are interested in knitting one of these sizes, feel free to contact me, and I will send you the pattern for free in exchange for your feedback on the pattern.
