Inspired by some of the best-known Native American basket weavers, this project is worked in a continuous spiral with beaded center reflecting the vortex pattern radiating outward in two-tone hues. The tapestry technique with crab stitch edging, using natural undyed wool in dark and light shades creates the look of an authentic woven basket. The Apache vortex demonstrates the center of the universe, or the source from which all life flows, and the turtle at the center represents an important creation symbol for many of the tribes of the southwest.
