This is an easy baby blanket that works up very quickly. A beginner could definitely create this blanket with only a few basic stitches. The blanket works from bottom to top and there are instructions for making it larger or smaller.

The example blanket is very springlike-- perfect for an April baby. However, you can choose fall or even Christmas colors if you like. I have made a few different varieties of this and it is always a favorite.

For a quick, sturdy blanket use worsted weight yarn and a 5 or 6mm hook. However, I’ve also made this with baby-weight yarn. It takes longer and uses more skeins but has a much more delicate feel and is softer to the touch.

Happy hooking!
