The idea for Ar Men came to me while walking along the beaches of Saint-Lunaire. I passed a young woman wearing a top whose shoulders and play of stripes caught my eye at once. It was love at first sight, and an immediate urge: to translate that detail into stitches and make my own Mariannière.

Three colors share the sweater. The stripes of the body echo those of the sleeves, with a different contrasting color that carries on over the shoulders. It was this meeting that had charmed me, and that I wanted to find again in Ar Men. The colors are then yours to choose: blues to keep the seaside spirit, soft shades or bolder contrasts.

The sweater is knitted from the top down, seamlessly, starting with two saddles. The back and the front take shape from these, then are joined to continue the body in the round. The sleeves are then picked up around the armholes. Its straight cut and comfortable ease come with three neckline options: rounded and open, square and close to the neck, or V-shaped.

Like each of my Mariannières, Ar Men bears the name of a lighthouse. For this one, then, the story began with my feet in the sand, with a garment glimpsed at the turn of a walk and the wish to reinterpret it in my own way.

L’idée d’Ar Men m’est venue en me promenant sur les plages de Saint-Lunaire. J’ai croisé une demoiselle qui portait un top dont les épaules et le jeu de rayures m’ont tout de suite attiré l’œil. Un vrai coup de cœur, et une envie immédiate : transposer ce détail en mailles pour en faire ma propre marinière.

Trois coloris se partagent le pull. Les rayures du corps répondent à celles des manches, avec une couleur contrastante différente qui se prolonge sur les épaules. C’est cette rencontre qui m’avait plu et que j’ai voulu retrouver dans Ar Men. À vous ensuite de choisir les couleurs : des bleus pour rester dans l’esprit marin, des nuances douces ou des contrastes plus vifs.

Le pull se tricote du haut vers le bas, sans couture, en commençant par deux épaulettes. Le dos et le devant prennent forme à partir de celles-ci, puis sont réunis pour poursuivre le corps en rond. Les manches sont ensuite relevées autour des emmanchures. Sa coupe droite et son aisance confortable s’accompagnent de trois possibilités d’encolure : ronde dégagée, carrée près du cou ou en V.

Comme chacune de mes Mariannières, Ar Men porte le nom d’un phare. Pour celui-ci, l’histoire a donc commencé les pieds dans le sable, avec un vêtement aperçu au détour d’une promenade et l’envie de le réinterpréter à ma façon.
