The Ararat Boot Socks are inspired by the basic ribbed boot socks. Easy pattern to proceed fast and suitable for incorporating different kinds of yarn for different purposes. If you want to wear these as a cozy pair for winter days at home you can change the yarn easily to a worsted or DK weight and only change the number of stitches.
You can easily choose any variety of yarns like tweeds or speckles and tonal, or even knit them in stripes with different colors, sky’s the limit!

FOOT SIZES

XS/S (18-20 cm/7”-8”)
M/L (20-23 cm/8”-9”)
XL (24-25 cm/10”)

GAUGE

30 sts x 36 rows, in stockinette = 10 cm (4”)
52 sts x 34 rows, in 2x2 rib = 10 cm (4”)
All in the round, and blocked.

MATERIALS

  • Approximately 55-60 g for size XS/S, 65-70 g for size M/L, 75-80 g for size XL, of fingering weight sock yarn. The yarn I used is hobbii RAINBOW 4-PLY sock wool (75% Wool, 25% Polyamide, each ball 50g (1.75 oz), 210 m approx (229 yds)). This is not a very soft yarn; you might choose a softer yarn including merino wool and nylon instead.
  • US Size 1.5 / 2.5 mm knitting needles
  • A tapestry needle
  • Stitch Markers
