Details: The Friendship Shawl is a modern approach and corporate traditional knitting for an easy knit wearable item that can be accompanied by many outfits. This design initially targets your 1 skein fingering weight yarn that you couldn’t ignore in your yarn shopping at a local yarn shop or a festival. I wanted to help the knitter to be able to immediately cast on a project while traveling or back from an exciting yarn shopping. Maybe there are a few one skeins of yarn in your stash that you always wanted to knit and wear but you couldn’t just decide about what to do with it. Well, this item is a promising piece to wear, making sure you enjoy having that beautiful one skein around your neck, matching your outfit, on a cool and windy day, or simply at home. Choose any type of fibre that you are comfortable with and dive into a very relaxing knitting project.

Size: small (medium)

Yarn: 1 skein of fingering weight yarn, 100 g/400 m (437 yds) (1 skein of fingering weight yarn 100 g/400 m (437 yds) and 50 g/300 m/328 yds of lace weight yarn preferably in Suri Alpaca)

Shown in: size small in Mira Isan Studio, Ancient Krug, Merino Sock, size medium in Mira Isan Studio, Winged Mountain Merino Sock, and Winged Mountain Suri Silk (one skein from each).

Needles: 3.00 mm (US 2.5), 30”-32”/76-80 circular needles or the needle size you need to achieve gauge if you want to follow the suggested gauge. The gauge in this pattern is not necessary to be achieved. What is more important about this pattern and generally in shawls is the drape of your knitted fabric and you can choose your needles based on the drape you’d like to have.

Notions: 1 lockable stitch marker, tapestry needle, row counter (recommended).

Other: Kitchen scale (recommended).

Gauge: 24 sts x 36 rows to 4” / 10 cm, in ‘Double Moss’ stitch pattern after blocking.
