There is something majestic and awe-inspiring about a Spring storm. One of my favorite pastimes is taking photos of a frontal line as it creeps across the Midwestern fields. The horizontal roll clouds and blocks of vertical rain shafts collide to create a visual masterpiece.
An easy knit, this eye catching hat is inspired by the beauty and calm that comes before a storm.

This hat is knit with fingering weight yarn using blocks of knit/purl ribbing and blocks of purls. This creates a visually appealing, lightweight hat perfect for spring, fall or cooler days without the bulkiness or added heat of a heavy yarn.

The finished hat measures 18 inches in circumference by 10 inches in height. The ribbing and flexibility in the stitches allow the hat to stretch.

This hat uses roughly 200 yards of fingering weight yarn and is knit in the round on US size 2 needles. A 16 inch circular needle or double pointed needles are ideal.
