Argyll Mosaic Crochet
3D Diamond Check Mosaic crochet design.
This design is a repetitive, interlocking diamond pattern with a shadow 3D effect.
Included in the PDF pattern pack are two sets of written instructions and grids - one for a small size pattern and one for large.
There are also other style options such as solid-fill diamonds to add depth to your project. You can also add a background to make it appear as though the design is overlaid on a solid colour background.
The pattern is ideal for those who are familiar with mosaic crochet technique, but there are descriptions and pictures within to guide you. I am on hand to support via the contact information provided in the pattern and on Ravelry or Instagram (@ailsa.makes.things).
Stitches used (US)
- Chain
- Single Crochet (into back loop)
- Double Crochet (into front loop from previous row)
- Border stitch at beginning and end of each row.
Gauge is not critical for this project, but slightly tighter stitches will provide a neater finish. US Terminology used.
In terms of materials, the weight and material is up to you. You will need two contrasting colours.
For the projects pictured throughout, I used a 4mm crochet hook and DK (8ply) yarn.
Materials:
- 2 yarns (contrasting in colour)
- Crochet hook (corresponding to yarn weight)
- scissors
- darning needle
I do not provide any information on yardage or quantity of yarn required because this entirely depends on what you plan to create. From previous projects using this pattern, approximate usage of DK yarn:
Cushion: 200g colour A (Dark) 100g colour B (Light).
Baby Blanket: 300g of colour A (Dark) 300g of colour B (Light).
Enjoy!
