Around the Table Cable Mitts
These giftable knits were designed as part of a retreat class for Around the Table Yarns in Shaker Heights, Ohio. They only use a single skein of luxury baby alpaca. Any worsted or aran weight yarn will work. Smaller-than-normal needles are used to keep the mitt pattern tidy and to make the mitts more wind-proof.
Knitters can make smaller or larger by changing needle sizes and/or changing yarns. For example, you could use DK yarn on size 3 needles to make mitts for a smaller hand. I made a pair of mitts for my gorilla-handed husband using a thick Aran on size 7 needles. You might need to modify row counts but the stitch counts will work. And, of course, changing yarn and/or needles will alter your yarn usage.
Many thanks to Jeanette Brown-Johnson, Susan Fuller, and Michelle Asher for testing this pattern for me.
