ASAGI japanese style WRAPSHAWL

The ASAGI wrapshawl has a simple rectangular form. The design is kept simple to do right to the very special construction of
japanese style yarn that is used in this knitting.
The yarn base is a black wool roving , wrapped in a colourful, very thin and fragile cotton thread.
I thought it would stand out best in an open, airy stitch.

Japanese mills like Habu and ITO are famous for their special
constructed yarns and I recommend to use yarn of these origins to be used in the ASAGI shawl. My preference goes to Habu N-94 wrapped silk because the texture comes the closest to the yarn I used. The fiber, however differs; instead of wool, the Habu yarn has a cellulose core, it will make the shawl lighter in weight and less warm.

you’ll need about 880 meters of yarn to knit this wrapshawl.

The name ASAGI is originally the name of a special japanese breeded KOI fish, that has colours on its body, that is very much alike the colours of the Japanes yarn I used for the design.

Although the structure of this wrapshawl is very open and airy, it is still comfortable warm, due to the isolating capacities of the woollen kern and the large measures of the shawl; the length of the finished wrap is approximately 2.40 m and the width is 60 cm.

In my Si Sjo Etsy shop I have a few kits available (as long while supplies last) in three different colours , of the Japanse style yarn that I used for this ASAGI wrapshawl.
