The Asana Hat was designed as an easy-to-follow project for beginners - a great next step once the basic knit and purl stitches have been mastered. It’s an opportunity to learn to follow a pattern along with some new techniques - knitting and purling in the round, yarn overs, decreases, and hat crown shaping. The pattern stitches are both charted and written, so take your pick! These are also easy to knit if you are more advanced in your skills, and looking for an engaging yet simple project. The varied textures create interest for the eye and make this a cozy piece to complement your favorite outfit.

In yoga, an Asana is a body posture and a general term for a sitting meditation. Asanas are performed to improve flexibility, strength, and balance. Through the use of breathing and focus, this can help relieve stress and anxiety. In our hectic always-on-the-go world, consciously making time for mind-body practices is important for improving our physical, mental, and spiritual health - things we could all use more of in our lives. The simple, repetitive, and meditative stitches of the Asana Hat are meant to bring calm and peace to our knitting time.
