This pattern is available for free on my blog, but if you prefer the ad-free, large print PDF you also have the option to purchase.

These Aspen Tweed Mittens are the perfect accessory, especially if you live where the winters are particularly colder. The thickness of the yarn and the super textured stitch make for a warm addition to your outerwear. No more frigid fingers, ladies!

This pattern uses only single crochets and half double crochets, but to get the beautiful texture, you will alternate crocheting half double crochets in the front loop of one stitch and then the back loop of the next stitch or vice versa according to the instructions.

There are also a matching hat and cowl pattern available called the Aspen Tweed Hat and Aspen Tweed Cowl. They are not included in this PDF.

Two separate PDF’s are included with your purchase. The first is a photo tutorial for making the special stitch called the alternating half double crochet two together and the second is another photo tutorial for the special stitch called the alternating half double crochet increase. They are on separate PDF’s so you have the option to skip printing them out. Both special stitches are not complicated.

The hook that you will need is the N (9.00 mm) hook.
