The perfect mix between ethereal and retro, Aster is a babydoll dress that screams summertime! An open back, halter neckline, and flouncy, gathered skirt make this ideal for warm weather, and the elasticated waistband provides extra comfort and skirt volume. And of course, what dress is complete without lined pockets?

Aster is worked all in one piece from the top down, no seaming is required for this project. The bodice is created starting from the halter straps, then shaping the neckline to your desired depth. After the neckline is complete, length and width are added to the bodice before being joined in the round with an extension chain to create the elastic waistband and skirt foundation. The skirt is worked to your desired length, with built-in pockets added as you go, before adding the flouncy, tiered flutter hem. Decorative peekaboo ruffle edging is added at the junction of the skirt tiers, as well as the neckline, then the pockets are lined with the fabric of your choice to add durability.
