Augustine Bag
OVERVIEW:
Augustine Bag is a stylish drawstring bag featuring classic cable patterns. With its timeless design and soft texture, it makes the perfect accessory to complement any outfit. It also works well as a project bag for your knitting projects.
CONSTRUCTION:
The bag is worked from the bottom up. First, the base is worked flat in stockinette stitch. Stitches are then picked up along the edges of the base, and the work is joined in the round to knit the body of the bag.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Width × Height × Depth = approximately 31 x 19 x 12 cm 12¼ × 7½ × 4¾ inches
YARN:
You will need 2 balls of each yarn(4 balls in total):
Fine Merino: 50 g = 175 m (191 yards), and
Pearl Mohair : Pearl Mohair: 25 g = 210 m (230 yards).
Use 1 strand of each yarn held together throughout the project.
GAUGE:
21 stitches x 28 rows = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 inches in stockinette stitch using 4.0 mm needles US 6
21 stitches x 32 rows = 10 x 10 cm 4 x 4 inches in cable pattern using 4.5 mm needles US 7
SUGGESTED NEEDLES AND NOTIONS:
Circular needles: 4.5 mm/ 80 cm US 7 / 32 inches
Circular or straight needles: 4.0 mm US 6
Cable needle
Stitch markers
Tapestry needle
2 drawstrings: approximately 1 m 39 inches each
Lining fabric (optional)
Sewing kit or sewing machine (optional)
Plastic sheet or sturdy cardboard for bag base insert (optional)
TECHNIQUES USED IN THIS PATTERN:
Stockinette stitch, 6-stitch back cable, 6-stitch front cable.
COLOR USED FOR THE MODEL:
Fine Merino and Pearl Mohair both in col 100 IVORY.
