Aurora Australis is a textural lace scarf with beautiful drape that can also be worn as a cowl (singly or doubly), around the shoulders as a shawl, or buttoned with a twist to make an infinity scarf. It is reversible, with a different effect on the reverse side.

Aurora Australis appears to be a complex mix of multiple colours, but is in fact a deceptively simple knit. The pattern consists of 4 rows of alternating stripes and no stranding is used. Two balls of gradient yarn and a simple tuck stitch pattern make for an enjoyable and rewarding knit. Full explanations are given for all tuck stitches, making it a good first tuck stitch project.

The pattern can be customised to the amount of yarn available, both in width and length. The featured garment used 440m of sport weight yarn. It can also be knitted in any fingering or DK weight gradient yarn.
