Aussie Block II - blocked

I used a photocopier to show how the block would look in an afghan.

Another idea is to omit the side triangles and make long afghan strips with zigzag top and bottom edges.

I’ve wanted to show you this block for a long time! This is my version of Hewitt and Daley’s “Australian” block from their 1988 book. Quilters call this block “a square in a square”. I changed the number of stitches in the triangle sections, changed the center square stitch pattern and made the block two colors instead of one.
This is a fast and easy block with almost all knitting and purling for the design.
Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit, purl, kf&b, k2tog, p2tog, k3tog and picking up stitches from the side of the center square.
Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.
