The Azali Beanie is about as simple as it gets. Top-down, seamless, two-by-two rib all the way down so it’s completely reversible. With 6 sizes included, the customisable gauge and the ability to adjust the length by trying it on as you go, it’s a very flexible pattern.

The real feature is the finish. A modified Tubular bind-off for 2x2 rib gives the edge a clean, uninterrupted look that blends seamlessly into the rib. This might be the one detail that makes other knitters look twice and wonder how you did it.

Azali is the Arabic word for something without beginning, something that feels like it has always been there, and it fits here because a simple ribbed beanie is as timeless as it gets.

Techniques used: Judy’s magic cast-on, lifted increases, Tubular bind-off.

Notes: The beanie is worked seamlessly from the top down in the round. Stitches are cast-on using Judy’s magic cast-on and worked in the round in 2x2 rib with increases to desired circumference, then worked even to desired length and finished off with a modified Tubular bind-off for 2x2 rib.
