Baby Chick Inside Egg
This is a beginner-Friendly Patten, even for those starting their Amigurumi or crochet journey. Detailed instructions for every stitch type used.
This pattern uses US terms (alternative UK terms also available inside).
With this pattern, you can create an adorable baby chick, just hatching from its egg. Perfect amigurumi for spring and Easter creations.
The egg could be kept close with chick inside, or open.
Final product measures at around 5cm3.5cm3.5cm ~ 2in1.8in1.8in.
Size may differ due to personal crocheting tension, hook size and type of yarn used.
You can use different yarn weight and types, while adjusting the size of crochet hook.
Materials and Tools:
• Crochet hooks: 4mm (F6) and 3mm (D3).
• Worsted/Sport weight-yarn. Two (2) main colors- I used beige for the egg and light-yellow for the chick’s body. One (1) or two (2) secondary colors: I used maroon for the beak and red for the chick’s crest. Feel free to choose any yarn color for the project.
• Two (2) safety-eyes. I used 6mm black safety eyes. Alternatively, the eyes could be embroidered onto the baby chick, for example using a French Knot technique, with any yarn or embroidery floss of a chosen color.
• Scissors/ yarn shears/ nippers (to cut ends of yarn).
• Tapestry needle (to embroider beak and weave in ends).
• Polyfil amigurumi stuffing (A small handful. Hook or scissors can help you insert the stuffing into the body).
• Removable Stitch markers (to help mark to the beginning of the round and wanted stitches).
