The pattern is now available with the Advent Days file name “Backyard Garden Shawl”

Advent Calendar 2019 KAL Shawl - the pattern days will be left available for those still working or those wishing to knit the shawl in parts.

This stunning shawl is inspired by springtime gardens full lush leaves and flowering plants, of warm springtime days and all that comes with it.

The shawl is made up of an asymmetrical design with several different cable and lace patterns each featured and showcased within their own parts. Each pattern part represents a different feature of a springtime garden, beautifully complimentary each pattern flows effortlessly from one theme to the next.

The shawl was designed to knit up in several colours to form a gradient effect as part of the Natural Fibre Arts 2019 Christmas Advent KAL pack but would also look stunning in a solid or tonal design. Each colour change was originally based on 20g of yarn. This shawl design could also be used as an excellent stash-buster for leftover sock yarn.

The shawl is knit using 240g of fingering weight sock yarn and is quite large, perfect to snuggle up under on a cold day. The pattern is suitable for intermediate to advanced knitters familiar with both cable and lace elements as well as beading techniques. The pattern is broken down into daily steps as per the 24 days Christmas Advent theme. While the pattern may look intimidating each pattern part is clearly reflected in its own section for easy to follow instructions.
