Bahar is the Persian word for spring or feather. I find it so poetic - soft and light. So is this tunic/pullover - it is soft and light as a cloud to wear.

It is the perfect sweater for the days that I just want to wrap up into something relaxed and comfortable, without thinking about the figure! I love to wear it with a pair of stretchy tights or pencil trousers and a camisole - that’s all there need to be to make a fashionable, elegant outfit.

When I found this beautiful Avocado-shaded Kid Silk Haze I wanted to make it show off in the best possible way. I found that the splashes of color were best exposed over a larger surface, and using vertical lines.

The knitting was fun and relaxing: the tunic is knitted from side to side, and from sleeve to sleeve, and because of the lightness of the yarn the work was never heavy or difficult to master despite the size of the tunic. Garter stitch rows are alternated by stockinette st rows which gives interest to the surface. Like this the fan-shape will show off even if you choose a solid wool. The shaping is made using short rows following the Japanese method (which is very simple and gives a very nice result, leaving no ugly marks).

You can choose from 3 sizes. The 3 different sizes should cover many sizes each as this kind of tunic is quite flexible.

Finished bust-measurements 38”/44”/52”. Length 29/29.7/30”. Width at lower edge 59/72/89”. Sizing could be modified by adding or subtracting pattern repeats

Bahar is also the name of a wonderful Persian girl my daughter and I met on the plane from Athens. This tunic is a dedication to her! Thank you, Bahar, for giving us such a nice company to Copenhagen!
