About

Baldur is a simple cabled beanie named for the beloved Norse God, often considered the most popular of their deities. I’ve made it free, as a gift to our knitting community, to celebrate the New Year and new beginnings.

I would love it if you would tag your finished hats and works in progress on social media with one or more of the following hashtags:
#baldurbeanie
#knitworkdesignstudio

Yarn and Gauge:

Gauge

Main Body: 22 sts x 30 rows = 4”/10 cm

disclaimer: sizing is approximate and dependent on gauge. Work a gauge swatch to determine the correct needle size prior to making your hat

Yarn

Worsted or heavy DK, all sizes can be made using less than one full skein. (100/115g each)

I used HauteKnit’s Trevor Morgan DK for a sample using US 5/6 needles. I made another sample with the same gauge using Malabrigo Rios with US 4/5 needles.

Contributions

Patterns are not written in a vacuum, and I couldn’t do this without the help of a literal tribe of people. People who test knitted, people who knit samples, others who modeled, tech edited, copy edited, provided resources for a variety of information, people who held my hand, wiped my tears and assuaged my anxiety, people who took photos. Heartfelt thanks go out to each and every one of them for whatever assistance they provided, intentional or otherwise.
